Understanding Isobaric CSD Filling Procedures

CSD (Carbonated Soft Drinks) bottling requires isobaric counter-pressure filling principles to prevent carbonation escape and foaming during filling.

Equalizing Pressure First

The process starts by pressurizing the bottle head space with CO2 to match the pressure of the filling bowl. Once equalized, gravity drives the drink down the sides of the bottle. Slow decompression (snifting) follows, venting head-space gas slowly before capping to prevent eruption.
